We moved to our single Family house in 2015 with a huge backyard. There were couple vegetable beds. I dedicate this post to my home, family, husband and the kids. Our Gardening journey begins in 2016! We have planted tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, thai chilly, onions, potato, mint, spring onions, green and red peppers over the years. The best part is outing in spring/summer in the backyard with kids. The kids are so excited about all this and they help out with watering the plants.

In 2016, we started with tomatoes and jalapeno seeds from Hemo Depot. We were so overwhelmed with our routine that forgot watering plants for 8 days and we lost the small plants. In 2017, we bought ready plants of cherry tomatos, jalapenos from Costco for an easy start. Tomato is Ohio's Sate fruit and we get those in abundance. The key is watering the plants everyday. All of us were so excited. The following years, we got bounty of vegetables. I will share pictures of our fruit of labor ! I will share all the tip & techniques in section below.

Mid - March 2020 - COVID19 scare!!! Coronavirus reaches Ohio, first few cases found in West Chester close to where we stay. The Ohio schools have a three week shut down. Me and my band get to work from home. No kids activities, no social gatherings, no meeting friends, no mall, no cinema, no restaurants, everything closed. The best utilization of time was to spend outside the house, in the backyard planting trees, plants and vegetables. I realized really like gardening!

We worked on the backyard as a team. This year we created 2 vegetable beds and we have 1  from last year. We planted onions, carrot, beet, cabbage, cauliflower, jalapeno peppers, tomatoes,  eggplant, broccoli, watermelon. We then planted the seeds for herbs in pots - fenugreek, mustard, chia, cilantro, basil. The trees we planted include - 2 apple, 2 peach, 2 cherry, pear, plum, nectarine, fig. We have 2 shrubs of Rasberry, 2 Blueberry, 1 Blackberry, 2 honeysuckle. We are learning along our way! We realized most of the time, we cannot get a plant. We need couple plants for pollination with a specific spacing between them!

My son has remote learning in the morning. Evening time after snack they play in the bakyard, ride their bikes and help us out with yard work and planting and watering. They helped with wtaering everyday and were so excited to see the plants grow!!! Ariv-Neti cannot wait to eat the carrots and the blueberries!!
