Dosa (Rice & Lentil crepes)
Everyone in my family loves Dosa. This is back up dish for both of my kids when they get picky and do not eat what I make for lunch/dinner. Can be served with cocnut chutney or potato vegetable. My 2 year old daughter eats with shredded cheese and sauce stuffing and calls it pizza! I sometimes serve it with sambar or even pav bhaji or paneer jalfrezi.
Ingredients:
2 cup Rice
1 cup urad dal (or split 0.5 cup mug dal and 0.5 cup urad dal)
1 tbsp fenugreek seed powder
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
Method:
1. Soak rice and dal separately in water overnight or 8 hours with water covering them more than 1 inch.
2. Grind dal in vitamix in smooth paste and keep aside
3. Grind rice in vitamix in smooth paste and keep aside. You can now add rice to dal.
4. Cover the above mixture in pot covered with cling wrap. Let stay overnight or about 8 hours. The dal fluffs. Then added fenugreek sed powder to it
5. Take oil in pan and turn on heat till pan is hot.
6. Use a spoon to make thin rice crepes by spreading batter on pan,
7. Wait for 2 minutes till the sides start coming off.
8. Turn the crepe side using spatula and cook for another 1 min.
9. Serve hot with coconut chutney or potato vegetable.
Enjoy!
