Dal Fal (dhokali) - IP version

Lazy saturday morning!! Feeling very tired after the work week. My daughter loves whole wheat tortilla (poli) and I thought of making this one pot meal for everyone for lunch! We had a papaya smoothie for breakfast and I made this dish in less than an hour!

Ingredients:

2.5 cups wheat flour Salt to taste

2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp Cumin - cilantro powder

.5 tsp Ajwain powder

1 tsp Cumin seeds

bunch chopped cilantro Vegetable oil

1 cup Toor Dal (wash in cold water 2 times)

2 tsp turmeric powder

0,5 mustard seeds

0.5 cumin seeds

8-10 curry leaves

pinch asafoetida

1 onion finely chopped

1 tomato finely chopped

bunch cilantro

1 tsp tamarind paste

2 tsp cilantro cumin powder

1 tsp coconut powder dried

1 tsp Goda masala

1 tbsp besan mixed in hot water

1/4 cup peanuts roasted

Method:

1. In a bowl, mix the wheat flour, turmeric powder, cumin cilantro powder, ajwain powder, cumin seeds, cilantro, garlic powder and add warm water to make soft dough. When it becomes soft and does not touch your hands and feels like play dough, you should be good. I apply some oil say 1 tsp to it.

2. Let stand for couple hours. If you do not have time, can make immediately.

3. Meanwhile, start IP on saute mode. Add 2 tsp oil.

4. In IP, add asafoetida, turmeric powder, cumin, mustard seeds, curry leaves, cilantro. Add peanuts, onion and tomato and saute for 5 minutes,

5. Add the washed toor dal. Add 3 cups water.

6. Add tamarind paste, cilantro cumin powder, coconut powder, goda masala and 1 tbsp besan dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water.

7. Close IP lid on Sealing and turn on "Manual Pressure Mode"-"High" for 9 minutes. Let natural release.

8. Meanwhile, roll the whole wheat balls using a laddle on counter top. You will have about 10-12 rotis.

9. Use a pizza cutter and make small diamond shaped pieces.

10. Now open IP lid when it is ready, Add the diamond shaped pieces to it. Close IP lid and "Manual Pressure" - "High" for 3 minutes.

11. Saute for 2 minutes,

Serve hot with pickle of choice, peanut chutney, fried padad and kurdai. Enjoy hot and comforting lunch!
