Appe (rice-lentil snack maharashtrian recipe)
India trip this November! Got the Appe pan to make this dish for the family!.
Ingredients:
1 cup Rice
1/2 cup urad dal
1/2 cup mug dal
.25 cup poha
.25 cup chana dal
1 tbsp fenugreek seed powder
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
Method:
1. Soak rice and dal separately in water overnight or 8 hours with water covering them more than 1 inch.
2. Grind dal in vitamix in smooth paste and keep aside
3. Grind rice in vitamix in smooth paste and keep aside. You can now add rice to dal.
4. Cover the above mixture in pot covered with cling wrap. Let stay overnight or about 8 hours. The dal fluffs. Then added fenugreek sed powder to it
5. Take oil in appe pan and turn on heat till pan is hot.
6. Spread the batter in pan to make small balls called appe, Medium heat.
7. Wait for 2 minutes till the sides start coming off.
8. Turn to the other side using spatula and cook for another 1 min. cover with lid. Low heat.
9. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
