Kadhi (yogurt curry - easy recipe)

Winter has started and Ariv and Amit want to drink something hot with their dinner, Making kadhi tonight with mug dal khichadi - some comforting food after the holidays lunches and dinner this Christmas weekend.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup chick pea flour (besan)

1 cup yogurt

2 cup hot water

4-5 cloves

4-5 pieces cardamon

5-6 peppercorns

2 sticks cinnamon

1/4 inch organic ginger

bunch curry leaves

bunch cilantro

1 tbsp ghee

2 tsp cumin seeds

pinch asafoetida

Salt to taste

Method:

1. In a pot, mix the flour with yogurt thoroughly leaving no flour lumps for smooth kadhi

2. Add the cloves, cardamon, peppercorns, cinnamon, and fine grated ginger, salt to it.

3. Place the pot on medium flame and add the hot water stirring it continuously.

4. On the side, heat ghee in a pan. When hot, add asafoetida, curry leaves, chopped cilantro, cumin, little ginger and red chillies cut in half. Wait for half minute and then transfer this to the pot.

5. Dont forget to stir the pot with kadhi till it cooks, Takes about 15 minutes.

6. Serve hot with rice or khichadi or rotis.
