Homemade Ghee


I love the smell of freshly made ghee. The kids like ghee with rice, polis and veggies. After making ghee for so many years, I finally get it right now.

Ingredients:

1 box(4 cubes) of Kirkland unsalted butter

Alternatively, use Kerry Gold Irish butter

Method:

​1. In a pan, put the butter to heat on a medium flame.

2. It will take about half an hour to melt and boil.

3. Watch the butter now. The hardest part is getting the right time to turn the stove off.

4. Over the years making ghee, I have got it right now. When it starts to turn brown and boils is when I turn it off.

5. Use a strainer to strain and then put a pinch of salt in ghee.

6. Close the air tight lid immediately.

7. Use immediately or wait for 6-8 hours for ghee to set.
