Black Urad Dal Wada (Black lentil fritters)

Last time my husband got grocery from Indian stores, got the black whole urad instead of white whole urad dal. I have been wondering what to make with it?! I thought of medu wada! The ones that we make with white dal, we could to the same with this dal! The wada will be rich with fibre and healthier too! The kids loved it!












Ingredients:

2 cups black urad dal

2 tbsp cumin seeds

1 onion finely cut

2 tsp chilly

handful finely chopped cilantro

handful curry leaves chopped

Salt to taste

Vegetable oil

Method:

​1. In a bowl, soak the black urad dal overnight. Next day, blend in vitamix to a course paste.

2. Add salt, cumin, onion finely chopped, cilantro, curry leaves, and chilly if you like.

3. In a pot add oil for frying and fry small fritters on medium high flame.

4. I like to serve with sambar or chutney. The kids like ketchup too.

5. Enjoy hot or with cup of tea or coffee!! :) .
