Pohe (Spicy flattened rice breakfast recipe)

Corona Virus COVID19 scare!!! Everyone around the globe is in a state of panic!!! Schools spring break extended to 3 weeks ! Kids at home and parents working remotely!!!! All kids activities and group gatherings and events canceled. Restaurants, bars, day cares, parks, malls everything is closed. The weekend is spend doing- Cooking, cleaning, grocery, laundry, baking with the kids, making their favorite dishes, taking care of the kids, and playing games with them. I am finding ways to entertain the kids!!

Today is Saturday and am making Ariv - Neti favorite breakfast dish - Pohe!

Ingredients:

2 cup Pohe. (Use Swad brand shown in the picture)

1 Onion - small fine cut

1/2 Potato -small cut (optional)

1/4 cup peas

2-4 small cut green chilly per taste

1 lemon juice

2 tbsp vegetable oil

2 tsp cumin

1 tsp mustard seeds

4 tsp turmeric powder

pinch asafoetida

8-10 curry leaves

handful peanuts

1 tbsp sugar

Salt to taste

Method:

1. Wash the pohe and set in colander. Set aside.

2, In a pan, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil. When hot, add cumin, mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, turmeric powder and green chilly.

3. Add the onions and fry till transparent. Add potato, and saute. Add the peas and saute. Add peanuts.

4. Add salt, sugar, lemon juice to this soaked pohe.

5. Now add pohe to the pan and saute for 5 minutes.

6. Then cover with lid for 3-5 minutes.Turn off heat. Let stand 10 minutes,

7. Add cilantro.

8. Serve hot.
