Healthy Whole Masoor sprouts!


Quarantined due to COVID19!!! It is Sunday morning and I am cooking a simple healthy home cooked meal that all will like! Kids ate the lentils with rice for dinner with a bowl of carrot soup!

Ingredients:

For sprouts-

1. Soak a cup of masoor lentils in water overnight.

2. Next day, put in a colander so that water drains. Keep that for a day and you will see sprouts. In cold weather, I put in slightly warm oven.

For the lentils sprouts tampering -

2 tbsp oil

2 tsp cumin

1 tsp mustard seeds

asafoetida pinch

1 tbsp turmeric powder

2 amsul shells

5 curry leaves

2 cloves garlic chopped

1 tbsp goda masala

Handful Cilantro leaves chopped

Salt to taste

2 tsp jaggery powder

2 tsp cumin powder

2 tsp cilantro powder

Method:

1. In a pressure cooker, pressure cook lentils on medium high till 2 whistles and then on low for 10 minutes.

2. Pour 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add 2 tsp turmeric powder, cumin, mustard, asafoetida, curry leaves and let tamper.

3. Add the cooked sprouts. Let cook for 5 minutes,

4. Add salt, jaggery, cumin, cilantro powder, goda masala, amsul shells.

5. Garnish with cilantro

6. Serve hot with rice and ghee or rotis.
