Bhature (Deep fried White flour bread)

I close my eyes and think of childhood days, about my birthday and my older sister's birthday that we used to celebrate with community friends and school friends. My mom used to make Chola - Bhatura & Kulfi dessert or Paav Bhaji! Bhatura is a popular North Indian dish that is a deep fried white flour bread that goes well with chick pea curry or potato curry or any curry of your choice! Since my son is so fond of fried food and school is also off, am making them for the family!

Ingredients:

2 cups white flour

1/3 cup plain yogurt

1/3 cup water warm

4 tbsp Rawa

4 tsp vegetable oil

4 tsp Salt to taste

2 tsp sugar

Vegetable oil for frying

Method:

1. In a bowl, mix the white flour and all above ingredients. Add warm water and make soft dough. When it becomes soft and does not touch your hands and feels like play dough, you should be good. I apply some oil say 2 tsp to eat. This way does not need to much oil while frying.

2. Let stand for overnight in order to ferment. If you do not have time, can keep about 4-6 hrs in warm weather.

3. Take oil in frying pan and let it heat.

4. Mean while, roll circular bhatura.

5. Fry bhatura on medium heat.

6. Serve hot with chole or potato curry or any curry of choice!

I have shared my chole recipe in another post! Bhatura and chole go very well together.

Enjoy!
